You might believe that getting copywriting gigs with freelancing websites would be as easy as watching your favorite TV show on Netflix. 

Well I understand where the assumption may come from but…

With the on-going pandemic, freelancers in general are finding it difficult to keep up, especially copywriters. 

And it’s not rocket science.

Businesses are more frugal than ever before, more careful than ever before and definitely more picky when it comes to freelancers.

You get my point. 

The competition is fierce & it’s only going to get even more competitive if those remote workers choose the freelance path. 

From this point onwards, I assume you’re convinced that there is a lot of competition out there.

You need to become the best damn copywriter that you can be, it’s the only way to stay on top while at the same time becoming irreplaceable. 

Because, if a guy from Fivver, can out-perform you. That’s a problem.

1. Use Quora As Your Secret Weapon 

You read that right. Using Quora and actually putting some effort into this can yield positive results. 

Thousands of people ask questions daily on Quora, especially on business. 

And this is where you can provide a solution for these people and answer their questions. 

Don’t Half-Ass this, having a well-written response will RANK your response higher on Google. 

Because Quora ranks very well in Google and if potential customers see your responses, you’re already ahead of those freelancers. 

Think of it as social capital, the more business owners know you, the better. 

2. Make Twitter Your Best Friend

That’s right, Twitter can be a handy tool. IF done right. 

I’m going to keep this one short, as it’s pretty straight forward. 

First, go to Twitter.com/search-advanced

From there you’re able to edit the search field and really narrow down what you’re searching for. 

In this case, copywriting gigs. Once you have that, you will be able to see a series of tweets that are promoting gigs.

Follow them, this way, you’re always informed and when the opportunity arises, you know. 

3 – Have A Referral Deal In Place

Get in contact with your old clients that you have a good relationship with and set-up a referral deal with them. 

It’s a Win-Win situation. Here’s why. 

Your client knows business owners, and they’re always looking for a copywriter that knows their stuff. 

So this is what you need to do. 

Ask your clients to refer you to their business pals AND in exchange you write them a piece of copy for FREE. 

What copy exactly? That’s what you need to discuss with your client. However, I will say this. 

Make sure to keep your end of the bargain, if they come through, make sure you deliver the copy that they need. 

This is a simply, yet effective way to get paying clients regularly. 

4. Consider Writing For A Different Audience/Niche

Essentially, it covered which industries are thriving during the global pandemic.

And these industries, they need copywriters, just like you.
